Our energetic friend Rashid Jahangiri sent the following comment to the famous columnist of The Dawn (Pakistan's well-known English language newspaper) Mr Cowasjee, on September 10th. (The website of The Dawn is: www.dawn.com.pk )
Dear Ardeshir Cowasjee:
I have suggestion that can solve many ills in our Pakistan. May be you can put it in your columns.
My suggestion is in fact for General Pervaz Musharraf, and it involves a way for him to get rid of his now useless MMA (i.e. Musharaf's Mullah Army).
How Gen. Musharaf can get rid of MMA (Musharaf's Mullah Army)?
In Pakistan court cases journal: PAKISTAN SUPREME COURT CASES [P.S.C], Volume V, Part 3, MARCH 1986 issue a decision of SUPREME COURT OF SOUTH AFRICA is published. The litigating parties are AHMADIYYA ANJUMAN ISHAT ISLAM LAHORE [Lahori Ahmadis - writer] and another versus THE MUSLIM JUDICIAL COUNCIL and others. Case No. 10058 of 1982 decided on 20th November, 1985.
The expert witnesses on behalf of The Muslim Judicial Council, beside many Muslim "ulamas" also included Senator Professor Doctor Khurshid Ahmed, Professor Mehmood Ahmad Ghazi, Maulana Justice Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Mr Justice (Retired) Mohammad Afzal Cheema, Dr Sayed Riazul Hasan Gilani, Moulana Muhammad Zafar Ahmed Ansari, etc.
Links to the scanned images from the PSC, March 1986 are given at the end of this email.
Briefly, none of the Muslim "ulamas", in an IMPARTIAL COURT and in front of NON POLITICAL, IMPARTIAL JUDGE could prove and establish what they preach and write while living comfortably among their fans in their home ground i.e. Mullahs in Pakistan. As the South African Supreme Court was neither a political forum like Pakistan National Assembly, nor the judge was politician like late Prime Minter Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. As a result these Muslim "ulamas" decided to withdraw from the case and made lame excuse "non-Muslim, secular court cannot rule on Islamic religious matters" without regarding the historical fact that in India, from the days of British rule to the present day, there have been cases all the time in which Christian, Hindu, or other non-Muslim judges, in a secular court, have had to give judgments based on a consideration of Islamic practice and law.
They even seem to forget name of Justice Cornelius [famous Christian Justice in Pakistan].
Gen. Mushraf made public Hamud Ur Rehman investigation commission report, regarding fall of Dacca in 1971.
Gen Musharaf, can get rid of MMA by exposing their PSEUDO knowledge of Islam. This he can do by making public the "top secret" "national security" debate in Pakistan National Assembly against Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishat Islam Lahore, aka LAHORI AHMADIS in 1974. Gen. Musharaf can even publish the proceedings involving the Qadiani Ahmadis (whose current head Mirza Masroor Ahmad resides in England).
I am sure when citizens of Pakistan will read with their own eyes, how the mullah politicians in 1974 assembly - the elders or fathers of current MMA leaders - had a weak case not based on merit against Ahmadis and that decision of National Assembly/Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was a POLITICAL decision not based on grounds of merit, Pakistani citizens will stop holding MMA in any esteem. This will take air out of MMA leaders PSEUDO Islamic knowledge and will hurt them deeply. This will weaken opposition of MMA leaders to Gen. Musahraf's vision of modern, moderate, tolerant, and peaceful Pakistan.
Sincerely,
Rashid Jahangiri, M.D.

The idea may permeate.
